The Victorinox-Travelgear design team challenged us to create a sustainable concept for a Victorinox backpack. Our research began by disassembling an existing backpack. We realized how many different materials are used to ensure stability, shape and quality. Therefore, we asked ourselves: Can there be another way? Can we rethink the concept of quality?
The result is «Segment», a modular backpack. Inspired by the Victorinox pocketknife, different components and volumes are connected to each other. A simple zipper allows the different volumes of the backpack to be combined and exchanged. This modularity allows personalization through colors and functions. The shape of „Segment“ was inspired by the Swiss Alps and is reminiscent of a massive mountainside. «Segment» is made of the duo material metal and felt. This offers the benefit to undertake simple repairs, making the product more durable.
