The starting point for our project were the three topics sound - body - form. We wanted to explore their connection with the goal of designing a new acoustic body. For us, acoustic bodies are objects that release an interesting sound.

The result is «objet libre», a series of acoustic bodies consisting of six different objects, inspired by «everyday», casual objects that are pressed impulsively, such as a pen or a light switch. These objects make an interesting sound as a side function, but in their primary function they have a different task. We have analysed the temptation of wanting to press them, triggered by their sounds, the various associations and emotions they trigger. What happens to these functional objects when you release them from their task? What function remains? The sound? The emotions?

We have removed their function and created new bodies for them, based on the context of operation, interaction, haptics and their original visual appearance.
