In this project, I explored, studied and captured the concept of an object body. I have chosen two objects. One is an object of my childhood: the Playmobil pirate, and the other is a daily companion: the pencil sharpener. I sketched them from different perspectives, created models and studied their structure. I then developed these analyses further using cardboard printing and printed various shapes and outlines using the letterpress process. Other printing processes that were new to me, such as cold-needle printing and intaglio printing, were added.
What interested me about the different printing processes were questions such as: What elements are needed so that the object can still be recognised? How do you represent the volume of an object? How strong must the print be or what amount of colour must be used? All these factors influence the appearance and therefore the perception of an object.
