In this year‘s «International-workshop-week» with the topic «Textile Companion», led by Kasia Kempa and Flavia Brändle, we gained hands-on experience in designing with textiles. We explored the use of different techniques, materials and colours and combined technical skills with traditional craftsmanship. Using materials provided by Schoeller, YKK and Mammut, we were able to try out new design approaches and design processes.

Over the course of a week, «la lumière d‘art» was created. Inspired by the two art pieces «untitled (Handrail)» by Monika Sosnowska and «Drawing 12» by Ronan Bouroullec, we designed two lamps in an experimental process. The starting point for the experiments were outdoor textiles and climbing ropes, which we wanted to utilise in a completely new context. To achieve this, we were inspired by existing works of art.
